EDGE OF TWILIGHT

　Residing in the realm of daylight outside the walls of Athyr, the brawny and scarred Lex lives a life of exile and subordination under the will of the Athern Empire.

　In the forgotten realm of eternal night Lex is agile, able and free. While his spiritual Lithern roots grant him complete abandon there, nothing can stave off the absolute loneliness.
　The diplomatic yet warm-hearted daughter of the Emperor of Athyr, Galina personally crafted the ambitious plan that will have Lex setting in motion the events leading to the new age; the reconnection of night and day and the downfall of the Tainted Lithern.
　Lex’s employer, the egotist who puts the greater good before all else; judge, jury and executioner of countless felons and deserters, and has sent hundreds of the Guard to their demise against the Tainted Lithern hordes.
　Walt is the proprietor of the Emperor's Grace Inn. Although a closeted nihilist, Walt is friends with everyone including the outcast Lex and is never without a snide quip at the Athern monarchy or a good-humoured joke with his patrons.

The Citadel

The Citadel of Athyr is located in the central region of Hellayem, where large numbers of Atherns once inhabited the vast plains. The Citadel still stands tall amidst the surrounding chaos since the Rift occurred. It is the last remaining Athern stronghold and bears evidence of the Atherns’ severe struggles in the recent past. The dark and claustrophobic streets and alleyways reflect the absolute reign of the Council over the Athern populace and set the scene for an unpleasant and bleak society. The Citadel is the central hub for the entire game and storyline; it serves as a safe haven, completely protected from enemy attack. Within its walls, Lex will interact with various characters to progress the storyline, acquire knowledge, buy or upgrade weapons, and trade rare items found throughout the world.

Sélann Mountain Range

The Sélann Mountain Range is situated north of the Citadel in Hellayem. The Majestic Lithern had long ago built an elaborate temple system that ran deep into the mountain and concentrated around small pockets of Ether. The main feature of this area is the huge Ether Core located deep beneath the central peak of the mountain. When the Atherns arrived and exterminated most of the Lithern population, they slowly took over the whole region and began constructing harvesting facilities centered on the main Ether Core and other lesser Ether points. After the Rift took place, the Atherns almost immediately lost control of the Sélann region to the Tainted army. Lukasin’s Tainted were used to wipe out all Athern resistance within the region. The Sélann region now lies in waste.
